Here’s a helpful Excel tip for working with data that has been filtered or has hidden rows or columns. Say you want to format the cells that are visible, without altering those that are hidden:
- Highlight the data you want to format. Don’t worry if you are including those hidden cells in your selection.
- Hit ‘Ctrl + G’ to pull up the “Go To” window.
- Click “Special…”
- Select “Visible cells only.”
- Click “OK.”
This will allow you to format (font, color, etc.) the cells that are visible within your selection without altering those that are hidden or filtered out.
